The Air1® concept
In 1999, the European Parliament has enhanced the authorized oxyde emission for diesel engines on heavy duty vehicules.
Since October 2004, the EURO 4 exhaust emisssion standard has come into force requiring a reduction on nitrogene oxyde emissions (NOx). Every new vehicules (trucks and buses) that will be registrered from October 1st 2006 will have to meet EURO 4.
In 2009, EURO 5 will come into effect with the objective to reduce even more authorized oxyde emissions.
A SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) converter is used by main heavy duty vehicules manufacturers. This process requires the addition of the reducing agent Air1® - AdBlue, a non -toxic and odourless urea solution of the highest quality.
